The Human Resources Specialist (BOP) position comes with a competitive salary range, starting at $49,739 up to $71,615 per year. This is a full-time, permanent federal employment opportunity that is not remote or telework-eligible. You’ll join the Bureau of Prisons HR team, helping to maintain a safe and professional work environment with a focus on staff management and support. What Does the Job Involve?
Day-to-day responsibilities revolve around supporting the staffing functions at a federal institution. You’ll assist with recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new hires, keeping track of documentation for security clearances and eligibility.
The role supports HR programs such as performance evaluations, incentive awards, and leave administration. You also provide ongoing advisory support to employees, timekeepers, managers, and supervisors on policies and best practices.
The position requires regular attention to maintaining overall institutional security, since all employees share responsibility in the correctional environment. You’ll need to stay detail-oriented and communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
There is some occasional travel for training or work-related matters, and you’ll be expected to complete a probationary period and an on-site Core Value Assessment.
